Skocjan Caves
Pictures taken inside the cave are from postcards as we were not allowed to take photos.
"The longer I love, the more my mind dwells upon the beauty and the wonder of the world" Archaeological research found that the caves and the surrounding areas had been inhabited since the prehistoric times. The cave became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1980. It has one of the largest underground canyons in the world. Following independence from Yugoslavia in 1991, the Skocjan Cave National Park was established. |
