Discovering Something New
Eastern Europe is as rich in history as Western Europe, many castles, monasteries, extremely beautiful cathedrals, remnants of World War II, traditions that go back for centuries, not fully westernized, less crowded, clean, tourism equally good to Western Europe, nature is preserved, delicious cuisine, beer, wine and friendly people.
Why Eastern Europe?
After traveling through Western Europe using Rick Steve's guidebooks and local guides, we had an "itch to experience Eastern Europe." We wanted a great history lesson. After reviewing the itinerary, we signed up for our first tour. It would be harder to navigate six countries on our own, different currencies, and languages.

- Our fathers' military experience in World War II
- Our family friend that was captured by the Nazis and became a POW
- Our immigrant Polish neighbors
- Our immigrant Hungarian neighbors that fled from Hungary - their 10-year old son was shot in the leg while escaping
- Immigrant Polish business customers
- A German family friend serving in Hitler's army, captured, brought to the US as a POW, later returning to become a US citizen
- A family friend serving in the US Army that helped rescue and hide the Lippanzer Stallions from the Nazis during World War II
- A Polish pen pal
